Mexico and back

4-14 What a great sail to San Diego! We had 20-25kts of wind and had Mermaid sailing along at 11.7kts. We spent the evening at Southwestern Yacht Club’s guest dock (what a friendly club!)
4-15 We set out early for Ensenada with dolphins on the bow again. There were thousands of dolphins all around us most of the day. When we got into our assigned slip at the Cruiseport Marina the marina manager greeted us with a warm “Welcome to Mexico.” PeeWee was wearing a bandana from the day the marina opened (we were there on our old boat) and they went nuts over him! (check out the photo) They even gave us a bottle of wine… way to go PeeWee!
Seal Beach Yacht Club had a fantastic hospitality room at the race headquarters so we stopped in to visit… they really do it right.
It was fun seeing all the racers come into Mexico and it made us very happy that we chose not to race this year… no wind isn’t fun.
Monday morning (about 2:00am) we started the slog back to the USA. We got to San Diego about 4:00, quickly cleared customs and returned to Southwestern Yacht Club. We rented a car and had a great last meal with Jessamine at Fidlers.
Tuesday we got Jessamine to LAX ran errands and hurried back to Mermaid… funny how going ashore makes me miss the boat.
