Hurricane Sandy & Mom Visit New York

I had planned a trip to visit Alan and Crystal since they won’t be able to join us for Christmas. When making my plans I did not know hurricane Sandy had plans for the same time. I landed at JFK just after the hurricane and a snowstorm that followed. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground but it melted quickly as the temps rose into the low 60s while I was there. The afternoon that I landed the “L” train on the subway opened which made life for us much easier. Everywhere we went there wasn’t much that looked like a hurricane had just blown through, but from the news reports it seemed not so good in other parts of the state. Alan and Crystal didn’t have any effects from the storm, but some of their friends were not so lucky and they had “refugees” staying with them for a few days.
It was so great to see Alan and Crystal and their home in New York. I got to spend some quality time with my grandcat as well. Alan took me to his office at Mother New York where I found my old, very old picture on the wall with pictures of the mothers of his coworkers. It was fun to see where he works and meet the creative people he works with. They all seemed very happy to meet Alan’s Mother and to tell me how wonderfun my son is!
We visited some of Alan and Crystal’s favorite eating and drinking spots. We ate and drank quite a bit. Alan was sweet to take me to do some shopping… OK, I was in New York from Mexico… Hello, shopping!
We went to see our old friends Reeve and Marti (Reeve’s Mom). Reeve is Spiderman/Peter Parker on Broadway so we purchased his house seats and watched the show. He did a great job and we thoroughly enjoyed watching him. Catching up with them after the show was quite fun as well. Reeve had just been asked to be in a Taylor Swift music video and he was quite excited about that.
My four days in New York flew past and before I knew it, it was time to go. I was very thankful that I had booked my flights in and out of JFK as much of Laguardia was under water. I landed back in PV, grabbed a taxi back to Paradise Village and the heat. The galley remodel has begun and the demolition completed… now we have no galley…
