Catalina on hold…

Mermaid sat at anchor off KHYC where we enjoyed beautiful sunset and sunrises in addition to the Thursday night races. As we were getting ready to head to Catalina Island when the generator started acting up. We got into a slip back at Portofino on A dock and called the company who did the rebuild. …

Long Beach to King Harbor

We spent a couple of weeks in Long Beach getting all the Raymarine installed (why is it always more complicated than we think!?). It was fun spending time with our friends in Long Beach and doing a little racing but it was time to move again. Mike brought Mermaid to King Harbor while Robin brought …

Catalina Island Weekend

We finally got out to the island for the weekend! The boat work had to be halted for a couple of days so we could enjoy this great California weather. The wind was on the nose Friday evening so we motor sailed most of the way over. We picked up a mooring (with much difficulty …

Mermaid in Long Beach

We had a great 4th of July in Redondo Beach including a fun A dock party at the Portofino followed by fireworks viewed from the bow of Mermaid. Cuco finished the fiberglassing and painting so we moved the boat to Long Beach next to Enchanted Lady and across from Hard Hatt – its fun to …

Back in Redondo Beach

Mike hard at work...

Back aboard

We enjoyed visiting Texas and Florida and are happy to be back aboard Mermaid in San Diego. We are still deciding where to go next… Cuco (the painter) still has some work to finish so we need to head north to Redondo for a week or so.

Slip for May

We moved Mermaid from the anchorage to a slip at Harbor Island West Marina for the month of May. What nice people at this marina! When we came to the slip (very early in the morning) dock neighbors came out of their boats to welcome us to the marina. Many have dogs for PeeWee to …

It is always the hardest to reach

Why is it always the mast light?! Mike and I were sitting in the cockpit discussing going to anchor tomorrow when we remembered the anchor light… it’s out. Up the mast Mike went (I usually go, but not with the leg brace!) to find out what bulb was needed. I went below and found one …

Loving San Diego!

We are currently at the city dock on Shelter Island. We can work at anchor, but with all the computers running it means running the generator quite a bit. So for now we will use shore power when possible. The anchorage was fun and beautiful and we will go back this weekend. We had a …
