stuck in San Diego…

Well, the new rigging is taking longer than expected (we expect too much I guess) and while the engine (Henry) was apart to replace a gasket the mechanic found the water pump was about to go. I guess that’s better found our here in a slip and not out at sea… June gloom has arrived …

Back aboard

We enjoyed visiting Texas and Florida and are happy to be back aboard Mermaid in San Diego. We are still deciding where to go next… Cuco (the painter) still has some work to finish so we need to head north to Redondo for a week or so.

Slip for May

We moved Mermaid from the anchorage to a slip at Harbor Island West Marina for the month of May. What nice people at this marina! When we came to the slip (very early in the morning) dock neighbors came out of their boats to welcome us to the marina. Many have dogs for PeeWee to …

We spent the evening at Southwestern Yacht Club’s guest dock (what a friendly club!) 4-15 We set out early for Ensenada with dolphins on the bow again. There were thousands of dolphins all around us …

First Day

4-13 What a beautiful day! Jessamine flew in and Kathy drove down Tuesday night and we hurried to ready Mermaid. We left about 7:30 Wed. morning and motored out of the slip to waving friends wishing us great adventures. What an amazing feeling! Finally we are cruisers again… the docklines are severed! There was not …

Mermaid’s Tale

Today is the day we were to leave the dock, but as cruiser plans are written in the sand at low tide we will leave tomorrow. The painter will be finished painting the hull today and we are off. We “plan” to spend the rest of this year cruising California and then head south the …
